MARCH 2022 TWO YEAR OLD IN TRAINING SHOW STRONG SALES
Ocala Breeders Sales opened the sales season this March with sales surpassing 2021 by nearly $12 million. The number of horses sold also exceeded last year’s March sales by 50 horses. Good news for the Thoroughbred industry.
The numbers are as follows:
Year | Head Sold | Gross Amount | Average Price | Median Price |
2022 | 375 | $49,656,000 | $132,416 | $75,000 |
2021 | 350 | $37,970.000 | $116,831 | $60,000 |
Eddie Woods led the totals for the top consignors, selling 24 horses for a cumulative total of $6,393,000. Early in the sale, the impressive Into Mischief colt, consigned by Mr. Woods, brought $1,100,000. Mr. Woods is a long-time customer of Auburn Laboratories, Inc., noting, “APF Pro is a valuable part of our sales operation. The improvement in their coats and overall condition is obvious within a month. When a horse at any level feels better, they’re going to perform better.”
With this strong showing, the Thoroughbred industry is looking forward to April’s sales with enthusiasm.
